So to kick off my new and “improved” blog, I think it would be appropriate to talk about my latest design that just came out a few weeks ago as part of Twist Collective Fall 2015.
First off, let me say how excited I am to be a part of this collection! This was my first time working with Twist Collective! It was a very positive experience and I hope I get the opportunity of working with them again! If you haven’t checked out the fall issue yet, please do, it’s amazing. My faves are Sweetfern by Barbara Gregory, and Philodendron by Holli Yeoh just to name a few.
Ok, so here is my design, Locksmith.
I had the idea for this pullover quite a few years ago, so what a relief and joy it is to finally be able to share it. I’ve always wanted a sweater with skeleton keys on it, and was very surprised to find that it really hadn’t been done in any knitting pattern I could find (if you know of one, please let me know, I’d love to see it!).
Over the years I knit a few prototypes, all of which failed, and I nearly gave up on the project all together. But as time passed I became a better knitter (I learned how to do colour work properly!), I got more into designing and pattern writing, and suddenly Locksmith came to life!
Here is one of the prototypes I still haven’t gotten around to frogging yet:
Isn’t it awful? The colours are horrible, and what was I thinking with that lock motif on the sleeve? So cheezy! it’s been in a bag for nearly two years so it’s all wrinkly.
All in all, I hope you enjoy this design as much as I do. I’m really looking forward to seeing FO’s and any modifications on the design! I really hope someone will knit it and love it 🙂
